“I am truly delighted to share with you a significant part of my life over the last 25 years. This exhibition celebrates that which sets de GRISOGONO apart. From the outset, my creative vision has been entirely different from what people were used to seeing and at one point I was profoundly convinced that it was time for me to show the world this unconventional and contemporary approach while always showing my respect for traditional High Jewellery craftsmanship. It was about making a complete break with existing conventions. One of these first steps involved raising the black diamond from unknown stone to fame, a move that contributed to forging de GRISOGONO’s reputation. Ever since, I have continuously nurtured a brand-new way of envisioning jewellery and watchmaking, while simultaneously establishing some of the most iconic fine jewellery designs.”
Born from the imagination of a true visionary, de GRISOGONO’s creations are what no one else has ever dared design. They are the secret of a unique style and craftsmanship. Unexpected contrasts, as striking as a chiaroscuro effect. Daring materials, complex structures, mesmerising aesthetics, reinterpretations offering original twists on signature classics. Innovative, mobile and forever evolving, their bold outlines assert themselves with uncompromising strength.
They are de GRISOGONO. They represent 25 years of daring creativity.
This is a story that began 25 years ago with a love of jewellery-making artistry and the desire to break away from established traditions.
Rarely used in the luxury industry and extremely hard to cut, the black diamond has become the favourite gem of Fawaz Gruosi, whose passion and vision that have raised it to the ranks of one of the world’s most coveted stones.
Admirably offset by contrasting emeralds, rubies, sapphires, pearls and white or icy diamonds, the de GRISOGONO black diamond intensifies the sparkle of the brightest coloured stones, and accentuates the silhouettes of the most iconic collections.
The unmistakable emblem of de GRISOGONO, this carbonado radiates a spellbindingly mysterious aura. That of a Black Forever diamond.
de GRISOGONO loves colour, contrast and subtle nuances. Its favourite chromatic variations hark back to the roots of its creator. The Mediterranean serves as a perfect backdrop providing Fawaz Gruosi with an endless source of inspiration and expression. He transposes these rich and natural shades through the vivid hues of the carefully chosen stones.
Selecting them for their individual beauty in terms of colour, light and intensity, he intuitively mingles fine stones with magnificent gems, free of any concern for hierarchy. No one else has ever been as daring as de GRISOGONO.
It isn’t only the combination of gemstones that delights and surprises, but also the mix of colours. Fawaz Gruosi loves to work with matching tones, pushing the boundaries of traditional pavé setting to its ultimate expression. Breaking all the traditional colour codes by offering daring and unusual combinations of vibrant shades and original stones, he has made the de GRISOGONO colour palette one of its unmistakable signatures.
For over two decades, de GRISOGONO has unveiled an array of dazzling creations celebrating feminine and mineral beauty while paying tribute to its twin sources of inspiration: women and gemstones.
In an endless reciprocal continuum, its muses inspire its creations and its creations in turn inspire women, generating a unique energy – an inimitable aura. Mesmerising creations accustomed to the limelight and that naturally become a woman’s finest ally, their stunning profiles indelibly etched on time and memory. They draw all eyes and catch the light.
As daring and sensual as ever, the Jewellery Icons from de GRISOGONO know exactly how to walk the red carpet.
Born in 2003, it symbolises life. Wholehearted, joyful, free and strong. It is the first de GRISOGONO jewellery collection.
It epitomises an intense sense of living, an exuberant spiral composed of daintily interwoven rings. Alternating polished, ceramic or gemset bands entwine without ever merging. A self-evident, natural, flowing aesthetic that is apparently simple, belies the fact its structure involves complex expertise and demanding technical mastery. Its finger firmly on the pulse, it is perpetually reinvented while remaining loyal to its overarching interlacing theme: its identity, its distinctive signature, its style.
A subtle golden thread weaving passion into life. Its festive and positive nature infuse the skin with an inimitably sunny touch.
When Fawaz Gruosi stamps his vision on time, he transforms it into gem-studded splendour, resulting in jewellery sculptures that tell the time. Timepieces imbued with the same complexity, the same high standards and the same jewellery expertise that define all his creations.
Be it a mischievous objet d’art such as the Crazy Skull, or a symbol of absolute seduction and a cult object like the Lipstick-shaped case; whether revealing the airy magic of briolette-cut stones adorning the Grappoli watch, or interpreting the complexity of the infinity symbol in a play on words evoking his daughter Violetta, Fawaz Gruosi instils time with an even more precious touch.
His secret is boundless creativity backed by audacity. His strength lies in seeing time differently.
When envisioning time, Fawaz Gruosi translates it into both feminine and masculine narratives. Elegantly magnifying traditional watchmaking forms, he remains consistently ahead of his time while honouring the past and creating the future.
In 2000, when entering the watchmaking scene, he endowed his first collection INSTRUMENTO with a tonneau-shaped case revisited according to his singular approach. Fifteen years later, he developed the NEW RETRO, a simple design imbued with the chic spirit of the 1950s. Transposing the timeless aesthetic refinement of the past into contemporary language, de GRISOGONO infuses time with a taste for naturally beautiful things that never scrimp on style.
The horological vision of de GRISOGONO embodies an original way of displaying time. Above and beyond formal aesthetics, Fawaz Gruosi has always encouraged innovation, determined to give a new lease of life to the watchmaking tradition. Complications presented in deliberately unconventional ways, designed to channel his vision of time.
A display mode inspired by a camera shutter revealing the magic of the Occhio watch movement while the minute repeater is chiming. A dual-time model with twin analogue and digital faces, both driven by the patented mechanical movement of the Meccanico. A single movement housing four complications successively appearing on the dial of the Otturatore watch. And the first jewellery watch equipped with Samsung Gear S2 by de GRISOGONO’s connected intelligence.
Four timepieces showcasing Fawaz Gruosi’s inimitable creative signature, and epitomising the manner in which he revolutionises the display of time. Playful, daring and deliberately nonconformist, they are the New Shapes of Time.
